Request from Torri

Hello fans! Torri needs your help. She’s putting together a new demo reel and would like some fan input on which scenes from Stargate: Atlantis should be included on it.

It’s no secret Dr. Elizabeth Weir is a beloved character to both fans of Torri and the Stargate franchise. We all have our favorite moments and memories of the character and now is the time to share those! Please note: scenes should focus on Torri’s amazing acting ability, which may not necessarily be the “shippiest” scene between your favorite pairing. ;)

Here’s how it works: respond to this post with the Episode Title, time index (time in minutes and seconds) of where the scene begins in the episode, and a brief description of what is taking place in the scene. Or tweet @higginsonifo link with the aforementioned information with the addition of the hashtag #weirfanfave

Example: The Real World 11:27 to 13:05 Elizabeth’s mother visits her in the hospital.

A short explanation of why you chose the scene is also welcome, but remember brevity is best. If you wish to link a clip of the scene in your response you may do so. We do ask that you limit the number of scenes submitted per person to three or less.

You will have until Monday, April 4th at 5pm CST to submit your responses. Time Zone Calculator After we sort through the results, a poll will be compiled with the six or seven scenes which receive the most nominations. The top three vote-getters in the poll will be the scenes we will submit to Torri for use in her demo reel.

Submissions can be from any episode in which Torri appears as Dr. Elizabeth Weir. This includes the SG-1 episodes “New Order” and “The Pegasus Project.” Please try to keep your responses concise and to the point and choose scenes which showcase Torri’s wonderful acting talent.

We appreciate any input you can give. Now go, re-watch your favorite Stargate episodes featuring Dr. Weir and have fun!

An excuse to re-watch SGA. :D
    That will be fun!

  2. Anaïs says:

The Long Goodbye 13:54 to 14:41 Elizabeth is fighting against major Lorn and three other guys alone.
In that scene she is amazing it’s my favorite scene.

  3. Jenn says:

Before I sleep : 11:04 to 11:43 Younger Dr Weir meet Older Dr Weir in infirmary as was lead into flashbcks of first time team arrivals re-told from older verison..

The Real World 8:05-8:13 Dr fighting with nurse as trry escpe ftom mental hospital in DC

I hope this what i understand what torri wants < but I not sure how can i do this mabe the scene i gave u is too long or need to short the scene ? IDk what else to say :S

Hope i can give you best scene those two :) well feel free email me :)

  4. Peter says:

    Irresistible 17:05-18:23
    Dr.Weir meets with Lucius

    The Return Part 1 34:08-35:32
    Dr Weir distracts Dr Lee

We get to see the lighter side of Weir and her being a seductress and Torri’s flair for comedy.

  5. KKinney says:

Intruder 7:20-8:55 Dr. Weir stands up to Landry and Caldwell in the SGC and OWNS them!

Before I Sleep 7:20-8:28 Dr. Weir meets and aged alternate version of herself. So much emotion is conveyed in this scene and great job by Torri as both Weirs! It’s a Torri twofer! :)

The Real World 14:17-15:38 Dr. Weir is meeting with Dr. Fletcher and discussing her mental state and “break with reality”. This scene is very compelling to me for many reasons. The range of emotion Torri displays in this short span is amazing, joy over a fond childhood memory, anguish, confusion over being told the life she knows is a lie and a sense of utter isolation. My heart goes out to Weir every time I watch this.

  6. Hwang says:

No Man’s Land 24:20-25:14 An argument between Elizabeth and Woolsey.
The Long Goodbye 29:46-30:47 Phebus making threats to Caldwell.
Conversion 28:00-29:56 Elizabeth tells John the team fails to get the eggs.
I like these scenes which represent different kinds of Weir. Torri acted them quite well.
I really want to choose some shippy scenes between Shep/Weir, but since it’s noted……

  7. Giéllen says:

    Hot Zone
    39:39 to 41:14
Elizabeth is talking to John about he disobeying her orders.

    Condemned
    32:32 to 34:20
Elizabeth recinds the alliance bewtween Atlantis and the planet.

    The Real World
    17:46 to 18:46
Elizabeth is in her room and start seeing things.

  8. drewandian says:

Thirty-eight Minutes 21:24 – 23:00 Halling approaches Elizabeth about allowing Teyla to prepare for death

  9. Hornpout says:

    Here’s my list:

Seaason 1, The Siege, Part 2
Crisis sequence, Weir in charge — because Torri conveys so much with facial expressions, tone, and body language:
    35:10-36:08 ; 38:51-39:00 ; 39:21-40:05 ; 40:20-40:57 ; 41:12 – 41:41 ; 42:00-42:35

    same episode:
Season 1, The Siege, Part 2
Weir sticks it to the Genai blindfolded and w. hands tied behind her back (great use of authority in her voice and acting):
    31:22-32:03

Letters from Pegasus, Weir’s message to Simon — because Torri plays that edge so well, of conveying sorrow without its bursting through:
    41:15-41:54
She does something similar in Weir’s elegy to Dr. Becket in a later season. Another one of Weir’s Churchillian moments.

    • We appreciate your submission but were wondering if you could choose just one scene from the “Crisis Sequence” in the Siege Part 2. We can only accept a submission of three scenes per person. Even though those are all in the same episode each counts as a scene on it’s own. Please choose one. Thank you!

      • Hornpout says:

Okay — sorry about that. I guess, then, I won’t suggest that sequence. Torri is very strong in it, but there’s a lot of intercutting of her scenes with others, so it might not do for a standalone.

I love seeing all the other suggestions people have brought up.

  10. Kaia says:

    The Siege: Part 1 40:38-42:15 Weir’s inspirational speech (Season 1 Episode 18)
Shows a layered performance, beautifully balancing elements of fear, hope, quiet strength, leadership and carefully restrained passion.

  11. Kaia says:

The Long Goodbye 14:28-15:19 Alien-possessed Weir takes down her own Marines (Season 2 Episode 16) Multi-faceted performance shows plot advancement, character development and physical grace. Nicely displays a transformation from the alien pretending to be Weir to the alien itself, while brilliantly showcasing an impressive physical acting skill in the process.

  12. Kaia says:

The Real World 33:30-34:35 Atlantis is Real! (Season 3 Episode 6) Weir comes to the realization that Atlantis is real, and the reality she’s in is fabricated. Facing her own fears and apprehensions, this transforming scene is delivered with true conviction and disarming strength, without being forceful or overly defiant, once again striking a beautiful balance that conveys a multitude of emotions.

  13. Iseth says:

    4×02 «Lifeline»
    31:00 — 31:43, 32:00 —32:24: Elizabeth vs. Oberoth
32:47 —32:57: Elizabeth is ordering to the team to retreat and leave her with the Asurans

  14. Andrada says:

It took me absolute ages to come up with these ones. It was much harder than I first thought, since she’s brilliant in SGA. Anyway, here’s my list:

    Bfore I Sleep 38:35 – 39:23

    The Real World 32:20 – 34:35

(honestly, any scene from these 2 episodes would do… I think they were her best ones :) )

    Sunday 38:02 – 39:59

  15. Zach Barnard says:

Rising: Parts 1 & 2, 53:51 – 54:40, Dr. Weir says, “I was hoping for another day, and it looks like we just got a whole lot more than that. Let’s not waste it.” The way she walks up the steps, the way that she looks at and smiles at Jinto as he looks out from under Sheppard’s arm, and the way she smiles is all expressly indicative of “Dr. Weir.”

    Many hugs to Torri!!! :D

  16. Zach Barnard says:

Sorry- I totally just realized that the deadline was Monday!!! Too bad I missed it- sorry for the extra response, but I still believe it is one of Torri’s best scenes!!!
